Does some music give you goosebumps or chills (otherwise known as frisson)?

Then you are one of the lucky ones.

Only about 50% of us experience this reaction to music. I am blessed to be one of them. It happens to me pretty frequently; in fact, it happened as I was preparing this article.

But even if you aren’t one of the “lucky” ones to have this reaction to music, you likely experience other things when listening to music…happiness, sadness, etc. Or maybe it takes you back to a time when that song was significant…a first dance with someone, a song that helped you through a breakup, or just something that moved you.

Music has the power to evoke up to 13 key emotions. Wow…pretty powerful stuff.

Music—good music—is good for the soul. It’s good for your health, even.

  • Music may aid memory recall.
  • It may potentially boost the immune system.
  • Music may reduce pain and anxiety.
    • Listening to music triggers the release of opioids in the brain, the body’s natural pain reliever.
  • It’s an effective stress reliever.
    • Music may help alleviate stress by lowering the body’s cortisol levels (the hormone released in response to stress).
  • Music can benefit our mental health.
    • Listening to music increases the amount of dopamine produced in the brain (good for depression).

For me, music has always been a big part of my life. It’s been there to comfort me, to energize me, to calm me, to move me. I still love to listen to my CDs or albums on our turntable. (Yes, we own quite a few CDs and albums!)

Music is a universal connector.

On a personal note, it’s one of the few things that I can still talk about with my dad. And I have some great memories of going to concerts with him, and I credit him for cultivating my love of good music. We even have a family song—and when it comes on, you have to sing it loud and proud. (“Takin’ Care of Business” by BTO or as we refer to it “Takin’ Care of Wisness”)

We have great music and musicians that connect us in the crypto community.

Who doesn’t love Bix Weir? We all sing along to “Litecoin is the Right Coin” – not only because it’s a catchy song, but because it’s true! LOL

This song, his music, along with some others in this space, are bringing people together with their music, spreading the crypto love and education with their songs and lyrics and creating creative works that will likely be around for years to come.

Your favorite coin is on an upward trajectory. What do you do? Celebrate with your favorite happy/uplifting/etc. music. For me, it would be some live music or recorded live music from Eric Clapton or Fleetwood Mac.

Or maybe your favorite coin just took a dive. You’re trying hard to stay positive. What do you do? Listen to your favorite music. I know some people like to listen to sad music when feeling sad, but I prefer to listen to something that will get me out of a funk…like some 80’s music!

Whether you’re just listening, getting some cardio in with dancing, playing music via an instrument and/or singing along, let the music in. Succumb to the power that it innately has and exudes.

“Don’t Stop the Music.” “Turn Up the Music.” And “Let it Flow.”

And as we like to remember, “Bless the Broken Road.” (This is our song.)

“Music is feeling. You can try to verbalize it. It really just hits you or it doesn’t.” – Gene Simmons

“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” – Plato

“Music is the universal language of mankind.” – Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

“Everything in the universe has a rhythm, everything dances.” – Maya Angelou
